ARROIO KORÁ AUDIOVISUAL WORKSHOP

Ethnicity: Guarani Kaiowá
Location: Mato Grosso do Sul, Central Brazil
Professor: Mariana Fagundes and Pedro Rossi

The audiovisual qualification emerges within the "Awá People" and “Contemporary Indigenous Community Vulnerability in Brazil” project as a tool to help the preservation of the indigenous peoples’ non-materialistic culture, as well as to make public the several violations of rights which these communities are subjected to.

In classes taught by Mariana Fagundes and Pedro Rossi, students learned about script construction and image and sound capture. During this process, the indigenous people reconstructed scenes from the past in order to tell the story of the families currently living in their villages.
