JERÔNIMO
Direction: Ailton Krenak
Project Status: In development
Genre: Feature-length fiction film | release forecast 2026
Production: Noctua
Synopsis
Central Brazil, 1960’s. While the new federal capital, under construction, symbolizes the future of a country, the Xavante nation is at risk. Their lands, their imaginary and their culture are gradually invaded and deteriorated. Jerônimo has the power to dream. By sharing his visions and dreams, the “owner of the dreams” recreates in the minds of his people the physical boundaries that get lost. In this context, the Mission of the Salesian Order arrives to contact and help the Xavantes, both materially and spiritually, amid a mentality clash. Upon meeting Jerônimo, Father Zacharias penetrates his mythical and dreamy universe. The young priest doubts his vision and his mission by coexisting with Jerônimo – at times in reality, at times in dreams – with Jerônimo’s potency and wisdom.
