Synopsis

The television series Fluid Borders (13 episodes/26min.) follows the transit of Brazilian indigenous leaders between Amerindian culture and white culture, trying to glimpse paths to understand this complex relationship between these two universes so close and at the same time, divided by ever greater walls. Beyond territorial boundaries, there are still those who discern the boundaries between culture and nature, city and forest, visible and invisible, before and after, here and there. However, one of the man announces itself as the most dangerous of all: the Anthropocene, the most recent age of the planet Earth in which the human force becomes more powerful than the nature’s, accelerating its cycles and threatening life on the Planet. If we go beyond its limits, our species (and all others) will be lost. No one better than the Indians to launch the alert; They know this end-point well, afterall, their world disappeared a long time ago. In order to form a careful look at the Anthropocene and to show how the traffic between all these frontiers can be, we have the vision of eight leaders from different ethnicities. They are David Kopenawa, from the Yanomami; Otoniel and Estér, from the Guarani-Kaiowá; Sônia Guajajara, from the Guajajara; Paulina and Ilson, from Ava-Guarani; Ailton Krenak, from the Krenak; and David Martim, from the Guarani M'bya.
